Which city attracts you most? Is it the rainy town of Xitang, the dreamy Nanxun, the jasper-rich Zhouzhuang, or Xidi, the “Land of Peach Blossoms”? With a longstanding history, profound cultural heritage and unique folk customs, the Yangtze River Delta is home to many ancient towns. It has gradually become a destination hotspot for visitors from home and abroad. In order to provide tourists with a subjective and fair tour guide, the “First Yangtze River Delta Top 30 Ancient Towns” competition has been launched, already receiving roughly 1.8 million responses and votes. The top 30 list has been released and it includes Zhouzhuang, Jinxi and Qiandeng. The final result will be revealed during the Shanghai Tourism Festival in September.

Through a combination of judging committee and online voting, individual awards will also be made besides the “First Yangtze River Delta Top 10 Ancient Towns” prize. These include the “First Yangtze River Delta Ancient Town of Folk Custom”, “First Yangtze River Delta Ancient Town of Ecological Environment”, and “First Yangtze River Delta Ancient Town of Popularity.” From the voting website, Zhouzhuang is currently the frontrunner of the “First Yangtze River Delta Top 10 Ancient Towns” and is also doing well in the other individual awards competitions. Unfortunately, Qiandeng and Jinxi are not performing well at the moment. Regardless, the recent development of both towns is demonstrating the distinct charm of ancient towns in regions south of the Yangtze River, significantly increasing their tourism quality, influence and popularity. If you are a fan of ancient town tourism, don’t forget to voice your opinion and vote for these three ancient towns.
