With the eight-day National Day holiday just wrapped up, Zhouzhuang, a renowned ancient water town in East China's Jiangsu province, has regained its former tranquility.

If you are the one who longs for the sedate and slow-paced countryside life, it's possibly the best time to visit Zhouzhuang in autumn when it is usually not packed with visitors in summer.

If you go, there are a dazzling lists of things you could do in the town.

1. Tour around the town

You can either pay a visit to the buildings erected during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) or take a trip aboard a traditional boat to tour the whole town.

2. Relish Zhouzhuang cuisine

There are a great variety of dishes with distinguihsed Zhouzhuang characteeterics on offer every day. In autumm, you might have the opportunty to have a taste of hairy crabs served in the Shenting Jiujia, a century-old restaurant in Zhouzhuang.
